Founders' Note
Hi, we’re Alexi and Brendan and welcome to Steward! We’re married, proud plant parents (seriously though, you should see our home), and co-founders who are building Steward to help as many people as possible experience the joy of living with happy plants.
Humans have been growing plants for hundreds of generations, passing down our ancestral wisdom. Yet, in just a few decades, most of us stopped; we got busy, we got digital, and we forgot how to grow. Steward’s here to empower anyone who wants to grow to do so with confidence and ease in their own home. We’re inspired by the idea that we can partner with nature to improve our health and transform the spaces we live, work, and play in.
We started Steward at NASA’s Ames Research Center with the understanding that technology can enable everyone to be great plant parents. But it’s only one part of the equation. We’re building our company in New York, with an extraordinary team of botanists, horticulturalists, and technologists here and around the world.
